POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Vice President, Human Resources - Retail Stores, will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Human Resources and function as an HR business partner with leadership responsibility to build and oversee a team of field management to support the business plan.? This position will lead a team of five territory directors and 30 regional managers. Travel throughout the company's territories is required.
The immediate priorities will include driving performance to accelerate growth, compensation and benefits, training and development, and design of an overall staffing strategy to ensure continuous flow of talent into the field and define clear paths for succession planning.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the EVP, HR to drive overall HR team transformation
- Develop and lead change management initiatives that enable business transformation to occur
- Drive cultural enhancement programs to improve associate engagement and retention
- Develop, upgrade and adhere to human resource policies and standards
- Establish a matrix driven performance management process and standards to maximize performance across all roles
- Evaluate current employee benefit programs and recommend changes to enhance competitive positioning
- Develop a competencies plan based on evaluation of the current structure
- Build the organization capability by establishing a succession planning process and option; create programs on coaching and mentoring
- Ensure that job descriptions are created to reflect the competencies required
- Maintain and communicate standards of productivity and accountability
- Establish best practices recruitment process
- Design compensation programs/incentives that drive business performance in stores
- Partner with management in the design and delivery of store SOP's
- Partner with management on organizational design and development
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
- Overall human resources experience of 15 to 20 years with a significant portion in the retail/consumer product segment from multiple companies
- Experience driving significant change management initiatives successfully improving business performance in the process
- Organizational development, talent management experience
- Data-driven execution style with a thorough understanding of metrics to drive organizational growth and change
- Results oriented, i.e., can mobilize people and inspire a sense of urgency by providing clear direction
- Makes tough decisions under conditions of uncertainty or ambiguity
- Grasps complexities of the business and takes advantage of opportunities for productivity improvement not identified by others
- Regularly rethinks work activity and understands how competitors are making most of their resources
- Creates clear points of ownership and accountability while building a climate of trust and empowerment
- Asks incisive questions and provides cutting edge information; challenges others to think about situations in new ways
- Demonstrated track record with union avoidance and labor relations
- Should have new store experience
- Undergraduate degree required; advance degree preferred

- Strong intellect and analytical orientation; able to prioritize complex issues and grasp key concepts quickly; brings a disciplined, pragmatic and analytical approach
- Must be tactical and strategic; willing to roll up sleeves to get things done

- Excellent follow up and organizational skills
- Ability to approach challenges with constructive enthusiasm courage to take positions advocating the best solution and build consensus for action
