According to the newspaper, when the bus was stopped at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint around 3 a.m., agents smelled marijuana.
A drug-sniffing dog was called in, and the dog led the agents to a trash can in the back of the bus, according to the El Paso newspaper. In it was "a red prescription bottle containing marijuana cigarettes."
Agents also found two other containers of marijuana -- in all, a little more than a tenth of a pound.
Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., admitted that the marijuana was his.
He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Snoop's Twitter account, he was in San Antonio on Sunday to watch a youth football game between an under-15 U.S. team and Canada.
According to the El Paso Times, after Willie Nelson was arrested on a marijuana charge in 2010 at a Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Snoop Dogg told TMZ:
They better leave Willie the [expletive deleted] alone, man. Willie Nelson is a legend. Sometimes you need to back up off of certain people and have a certain amount of respect for your elders. And Willie Nelson is our elder. Willie Nelson is my people. If you got a problem with Willie Nelson, you got a problem with me.
